P.S. Got to say that it was a real treat, even if the light from a quarter moon didn't really do justice to the scene. Best I could tell, there were about twenty head, less than half cows and more than half calves.

I like it.

But then you have to go out in 15 deg. weather for several hours. I remember 15 deg. and I don't like it. Don't own enought of the right kind of clothes anymore.

Actually, the pic of the elks was taken just at daybreak one morning late last February. We had a run of four days with anywhere between twenty and fifty elk bedded down around the house, most out back but a few within just feet of the garage.

I can feel the cold from here just looking at the pictures :)
