Net your own fish if possible!

I had a nice 4-5 lb brown once online that I couldn't get too. I was on a large boulder and I had to call my brother over to net the fish. I thought all would be ok but when the brother slipped on the boulder guess what!!! He fell into me and I hit the ground almost pulling the fish out of the water. The hook came out and next thing I know it's lodged into my hand... Luckily I use barbless Hooks! Don't ever let somebody else net your fish if they don't know what they are doing... It could cost you the fish, an eye, an ear, a hand or finger and I'm sure you get the hint!

Have you ever heard anyone say....

"I wish I had a smaller net!"

I've had many nice fish knocked off by inexperienced folks...when getting "help" too net a fish...I have always taken the lead in the operation...."put the net in the water...and leave it still...I'll lead the fish to the net....don' be tryin' ta scoop it or its the soup for you"....so simple...but ohhh so hard to not scoop...Val has the technique down pat now....a quiet net and a gentle lift....all a netter should do....of course things can still go wrong... :tieone:
