Tiemco 9300 or a Mustad 3906. I have very few 3906 hooks. I have lots of 3906B. I could not tell any big difference between a 3906 and a 3906B. The 9300 and a 3906 should be very comparable to one another.

I like Mustad hooks, personally. I tie a bunch of flies on those 3906's.
heres a nice hook chart to bookmark for comparisons

I like the 3906 as well. Seems that at least half my flies are tied on them. The 3906B is simply 1x Long over the 3906. Still a good wet hook.
The 3399 has a ball eye and will give you a more balanced head when viewed from the top. Same hook as the 3906 otherwise. The preferred choice for tying old wets for the shadow box, though.
The fish don't care which one you use. :)
Even though the 3399 has been discontinued, they can be found on-line (lots of others, as well), if that's what you're looking for. Tiemco makes great hooks, but I've never had any problems with Mustads and they cost a heck of a lot less.
Regards,
Scott
That is part of the part number conversion. They still make the hook, but it has a different part number. The current part number for the 3399 is S70-3399.
I have all of these charts in PDF format. If anyone wants them, PM me with your email and I will send them to you.
I do not know if these links will work as I can not load my site from within my network.

Try them and let me know if you can get to them.
I think you will find the TMC 3769 more equivalent to the 3906 than the 9300. It is a 2X heavy sproat bend. The 9300 is 1X heavy and the bend looks more round. I prefer the TMC 3761 which is equivalent to the 3906B.
I use the 3399 & 3906 Mustad hooks a lot for trout nymphs. My observations are that the wire is lighter and barb is smaller on the 3399 hooks
In size 10-14 I prefer the 3399 hooks because its so fast to bend down the barbs, which I do in my vise
In size 16 it is a toss up between the 3399 & 3906
For 18's and below I prefer the 3906 hooks just for strength in holding fish.
The 3906b is listed as 1x long but it seems longer than that to me.
