fly recipes
I was wondering if anyone could post up a couple of recipes for me as the books i have seem to conflict one another.
The flies im interested are Doobry,GRHE and the invicta.
There seems to be so many diffrent tweaks i know it probably doesnt matter that much but i would be interested to see what diffrences other come up with.
Cheers

Hi Black Pennel,
I've not heard of the Doobry, so can't help you there.
The Invicta is:
Tail: golden pheasant crest
rib : silver wire
Body: yellow seal's fur
hackle: reddish brown, palmered along body
throat: English Blue Jay wing feathers (the blue ones)
wing : hen pheasant (ringneck) slips, tied low along the body (set in amongst the hackle)
head: red
I believe the GRHE is:
Tail: guard hairs from hare
rib : gold wire
body: dubbed hare's mask, thicken around the thorax
wing: hen pheasant slips
pick out the hairs in the thorax area to produce legs and to support the fly, doing the job of a hackle.
I'm assuming you mean the traditional dry fly for the GRHE.

P.S. and welcome to the board

BP,
Here's a little link to a very fine tier here who's handle is Invicta, just like one of his flies.
Hope you find the site enjoyable. Rob K. (aka Invicta) is a fine tier...

There is a very simplistic tye of this fly, just recently posted in the UK which may be interesting to some.
Here is the link to the thread. Being a common pattern it may ring a few bells to some:-
