Log In Help Please !

I can't always log in and when I can and start navigating the board or try to reply to a topic, usually my log in fails. Do I need to do something to keep that from happening? Does the my log in time out? Also if I try to pm anyone, that logs me out also...pop up says I'm not logged in. Then I use my new password and after 5 tries I get locked out and my email gets a note to the effect that I have to wait 15 mins.

Yes, I cleared the previous log in and cleeared cache, cookies and history. Did a scandisk and defrag. No change. Oh, I can answer a pm ok if I go in through the notice from FAOL that's sent to my email account. Any help with my specifics would be appreciated !

im not having problems. In the past I have had such problems on other sites with other computers and internet providers, when I got rid of dial up and a faster computer the problem went away. I suspect your internet provider is overrun with kids home from school and tomorow when they go back to school it will get better.

Nope, I'm on "Commercial High Speed DSL" and I'm having the SAME type of problem........ I log in, go to a post, enter a reply to that post and when I hit the "quick post reply" I get a message above that window, that says, "you're not authorized, blah, blah, blah, please log in".
Yes, I've ALREADY logged in, but while typing a reply to a post, it logs me back out again!?! Same thing can happen, (at random), sending PMs, writing a new topic to a thread, whenever. In fact, I've JUST logged in, came to THIS thread and I'm typing this reply, NOW, I'm going to hit "post quick reply" and see what happens?!
Yep!! "You're not authorized to.................... please log in"!!??
So, I have to "copy" what I've typed, log in again, get a new window up, to reply in, then paste my message into the new box and then, hit "post quick reply". THIS go around, it worked!??!
Now, I HAVE noticed, that if I'm typing and someone else is also replying to the same post I am, I'll ALWAYS get bumped off and have to sign in all over again!?

Strange problem! I'm not having any trouble.

Just an idea ... have you deleted the site from the bookmarked pages, and reentered it as a whole new site?

i had that for a little while but it just went away eventually. just give it some time

Ok, things seem better, you've all suggested things that are helpful, so thanks everyone...I actually tried all the things mentioned, plus I have cable so not a speed issue....I do however have an old comp with ME....

Betty thanks for the reminder but yes, I did that right away and so much more...a system restore included. No help...

DDRR, I think you're onto something as I can post once in a while now and it will get better hopefully. I just have to be patient I think.

Guys, I am sorry for the troubles you're having. I have no idea why, but I WILL,,, check in to it and try to find the reason and perhaps a fix. Hang in there with us please... jc

I have the same problem but have learned just to live with it. :D

have you tried firefox instead of internet explorer?

If you get back to this thread and read this............... PLEASE don't hassle yourself over us "Not bearing with you, or hanging in there with you"!!
Whether it's a mere "glitch", or whatever, it's SURE NOT anything any of us can't deal with or work around!!
I'm STILL utterly amazed, that the entire switch-over to this new and MUCH improved site, went as smoothly as it DID, to let a small thing, like this, get to me. If anyone, cares to bitch, AT ALL about any "problems, with the new site", I'll be happy to PM or email anyone, a few new sites they can sign up with, instead.


ERICWD. yeah, thanks for the tip, but I already am using FireFox. (SOOOO much better than IE!)

Ok somewhat of a hijack here, But I use Safari browser from Mac designed for windows, and love it more than firefox. Its a faster browser to.

Ya know ... come to think of it ... I had major problems getting on and staying on, and signed in, when I was on Explorer. I'm using Safari on my Mac and it's incredible!

I will venture that with our fresh install of our operating software and coming at you from a hot new server does help too.

Things seem to be getting better....like DDR mentioned, 'give it some time'.

Thanks again all and I may consider the Safari but I've not had any trouble with IE that I know of and it's fast (except during peak traffic) .

Eric, I tried Firefox once with no noticable difference, thanks for the idea though.

Flyandtie1, Betty, Doug, good ideas all and I may try 'Safari' yet...where/how does one do that ? Also, still no notifications in my email so I must not be setting something up correctly, right?

Google; Safari Browser. I thought Firefox was good, but Safari is better!
I just remembered! You have to be running at least WIN XP. (I think that's right)
