Fishing Report from Thursday 24th
got out for two hours last thursday. i was getting very few bites. the gills weren't hardly even looking at flies. my first fish was about a 8 inch bass on a bee pattern. than got a little gill about 3 inches long on a foam hopper. action slowed way downn after than. i moved along the shore fishing and managed to pick up a gill on a black BY leech. that one was about 8 inches long. i met another guy there fly FF'ing. i was talking to him awhile and he got a few decent bass. just before i left i went to where there was an old tree laying in the water. i tied on a red basswood popper and threw it out along the tree. i moved it about 2 inches and a good bass hit it hard. when i first set the hook on him he took off. after fighting it for five minutes i finally got it to shore. it was the biggest bass i've gotten on a fly so far, 14 3/4 inch and about 3 pounds. that bass just about destroyed that fly.
i had a decent day on the water. hope you can get out

Re: Fishing Report from Thursday 24th
Sounds like you had fun.Isn't it funny, but it seems the times you catch the best fish are when you are not paying attention or when you about to leave.I caught a couple of 2-3 pounders at a friends house the other day,but that was on my spinning rod.I have to fix up my large poppers and try with those. The only real problem thats keeping me from catching bass on the fly rod is right now is all the pollen and hickory tree stringy things. It makes a mess of your line.
I would go try that spot again, and see what else you can catch.have fun.
