Question...what do you folks use on your graphite ferrules to keep them from getting stuck together ?
I've never really had a problem. Do you have a rod that is stuck and you can't get apart or is this an ongoing issue? Make of rod? New or old? In my opinion it is important to make sure the ferrules are dry as opposed to wet/damp. The surface tension of the water could be your problem, this can create suction which will cause them to be difficult to take apart.
When I was a kid my grandfather told me to rub the end on the side of my nose before I put my pole together. I still do it today and have never had one stick.

Bump...hey Bob, I see we have occupation in common. Spend more time fishing than working, trout do not rise in our local cemetary. Jonezee
Brand new rod..a five piece travel rod..one connection today was a bit difficult to get apart...I never had problems in the past however I was just interested to see if anyone ever used anything..I was reading that a little paraffin wax would help...
I'll see what happens next time out..maybe because it is new it snugged up a bit..
Good news was that I got out fishing and caught a few nice rainbows...
Rod makers often supply a bit of candle wax. The 'nose' thing was before graphite was invented. The nose has wax,,, and salt. Was not good for rods even tho widely used. Wax keeps them from coming apart, yet makes it easy to get them apart.
Jonezee...yes...it is better to be out fishing than working...
Good saying on the cemetary issue...none rising here either.....plenty of time for rest down the road...
Rule #1 NEVER rub the male ferrule on your nose!
Rule #2 see rule #1
Rule #3 use a little parafin wax on the male ferrule(a birthday candle works great)
Many companies coat the rod before it is sold. A rod that comes apart or just gets loose casting usually breaks as the stress is then on the ferrule.
Thanks for the contributions..I'll try the wax and not the nose wax.....
