The Fly shop I work at in Van Nuys Ca. was broken into early Thurs. morning. 101 reels were stolen ranging from Abel and Tibor to SA and Cheap Ross. They also made off with 35 rods from various manufacturers. If you have any info please contact The Fishermen's Spot at 1-818-785-7306 thank you

I am told one of the ways thieves unload stolen goods is to sell on EBAY. I would monitor this site too. Sorry to hear of your loss.
Don't forget to watch Craigs List as well.
Sorry to hear of that David. I was there on Saturday morning, saw the plywood covered door, and bought $300 worth of supplies.

is the fly shop located in texas or lousiana ? if it is the items could been taken to canton and sold there... i know 3 dealers who sells flyfishing goods at first monday trades days in canton texas....
As most of you probably already know, we were burglerized in the early hours of Thursday morning. They smashed the front door of the store with a hammer and then shattered the reel display cash as well. They pretty much cleaned out, or damaged, every reel in the case (101 reels gone and 18 damaged) and they got 35 rods (4 others damaged) off the rack as well. The alarm company called us and we found the store in shambles when we arrived. Police did their thing and they did find blood where one of the thieves cut themselves on the show case glass, the hammer and a plastic garbage bag that had been left behind. I put the word out on the flyfishing forums and we have a lot of eyes looking to see if this stuff starts showing up. Steve and I wanted to thank all of those who called, posted on the boards or emailed with offers of help and condolences we are truly part of a great community and we appreciate your kindness and support.

Our shop (Central Florida) "The Fly Fisherman" was hit four weeks ago and the ***-*****'s made off with Tibors, Sage 6000 series and Abels. All the sunglasses by Smith and Panoptics and the Calcutta baitcasters. There's an article about it in this issue of Fly Fishing in Saltwaters. There were two others hit in California and another in Florida.
No sign of anything on Craig's List or Ebay. We figure they'll end up in South America.
They didn't mess with the rods or anything else. They did take a Renzetti Master vice, too.
Man I hate to hear of someone being burglarized, especially when it's someone in the fly fishing community. I always think of those who pursue the thrill of flyfishing as the honest, most generous type: Then a D**K like JCNTHERIVER shows up, and either robs your local fly shop, or wants to slam on someone when their down. Da*n Shame!!
Hope the cops catch'em, or somebody spots them boosting online somewhere. Best fortunes to you guys.

I was as put out as anyone with jcntheriver's post about the fly shop breakins and said so. I am also a little put out with the lynch mob mentality that seems to be developing about those posts. Is it possible that jcn has some redeeming qualities that might sway us from trying to ruin his life or at least his employment. Could he have engaged his fingers on the key board before he engaged his brain as just about all of us have done at one time or another? Could a cocktail or two have played a role in his insensitivity? Lets not hang the guy yet. Perhaps we won't have a repeat performance. Remember, we've all needed a little mercy and forgiven at one time or another. 8T :)

I have to agree with Eight Thumbs and Ray. A few unpleasant posts on a forum don't really justify taking it to his employer...if he's a bad employee, his boss knows it, and if he's not, they know that, too.
Your boss is the only one! Who cares. This is nont about making a sale on the bakcs of a loss. Get with the program.....and you are a senior member? Why?

Well, Harry Huff, the owner, is the one who replied to my email.
If they are the only Danielsson dealer in NJ (Apparently they are NOT the only one in the U.S.), and if Mr. Huff does in fact employ this juvenile, then he has the link to inquire about his comments and dragging Mr. Huff's business into a Frey.
Mr. Huff asked me to call him, but to what avail? If Jeffery works for him, he can deal with it. If Jeffery does not, then the point is moot.
First of all I wish to send my sincear apolijes to the shop owners who have been hit by this horrid event. I will do my best to keep an eye out for the reels. I know a shop that has stuff that has "fallin off trucks" and will take a look at what they have. As for the other isse it seems to have been delt with and I wont go any further then to say I'll pray for the best.
Sooo? I can buy Sage, winston, tfo, Ross, AND Danielson, and resell Danielson, and after the cost of shipping it is not a very good deal for me. Much less of a discount that the other mentioned. If I could get Danielson for a good price I might be tempted.Quote:

I agree...extremely easy to sell the reels...basically just ask...I do not actually sell anything but am on the guide program with whatever I use and usually that gives you the option of also selling...I leave that to the fly shops...they need all the business they can get to compete these days...for that matter most every reel made has the same options for guides and certain other circumstances such as media icons etc....still this doesnt help get the shop its reels back though:(
