flyline and backing
I have been told fly lines vary by quality, can anyone tell me there opinion on a good/best fly line and backing? It would be used on a 9 ft 5 wt. and primarily new york streams like the beaverkill, west branch and esopus,(thanks ducssterman)
Thanks,
Scott

Ducksterman, is there a prefered manufacturer?

Dear Friend. Go to Global Dorber here on the sponser page. They will take good care of you, not charge a arm and a leg and you will get a decent product for a good price. Nugh said.........

Dear scottie,
I don't think you can go wrong with either Cortland or Scientific Anglers products. I have been using both for almost 30 years.
If I were you I'd consider a Weight Forward 5 weight floating line from either of those companies. Cortland also makes backing, I think Scientific Anglers does too but I buy Cortland 500 yards at a time.
Best wishes,
Avalon

A simple no..IMO you won't go wrong with Cortland, Rio, Scientific Anglers....if price is an issue you can go in other directions too...frankly, it seems to me it becomes personal...nobody can try them all or use them in all conditions.... and also the companies are coming out with new stuff all the time...I'd be surprised if in the morning you don't get a lot of suggestions.
I've asked a question about intermediate line choices on another current thread and I doubt if anyone can give me a definitive answer but I value their input.
