About Skeeter Fuzz dubbing (X-Dub or Uncle Dicky dubbing)?
Hi,
I recently read Dick Talleur's article, and he strongly recommended Skeeter Fuzz dubbing as the finest dry fly dubbing. Fly Tyers Dungeon (FTD) sells it. It is also known as X-Dub (from Blue Ribbon Flies in Yellowstone) or Uncle Dicky Dry Fly Dubbing.
If you have tried any of these three, could you describe the difference between Skeeter Fuzz (X-Dub, Uncle Dicky Dubbing) and Wapsi Superfine Dubbing? I know that FTD sells it at only .75c per pack, but does Skeeter Fuzz have any advantages over Wapsi Superfine except for the price?
Especially, I wonder if Skeeter Fuzz has fine and long fibers with some transparency, and whether it is superior to natural silk dubbing in this respect.
I have used Wapsi Superfine almost exclusively for my dry flies, but I would like to know if Skeeter Fuzz has distinct advantages.
Thanks in advance.

Checked the web site, and the stuff (Skeeter Fuzz) really looks interesting!! Anxious to hear from someone who has used it! The other dubbings look fun too!

I have used the skeeter fuzz and like it. Sorry to say I cannot compare it to any other superfine dubbing because I have not used any. My view is the skeeter fuzz is long and dubs very easily. I do not know about translucence.
