St Croix-Line Match
I recently purchased a St. Croix Imperial 7'6" 2pc 4wt for my nephew. If anyone has any experience using this rod, what line (DT or WF) would you suggest? My personal leaning would be toward the DT, but any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I used to have one of those. The 4DT will work fine, unless he is casting over 40'or it is windy, then I would put on a WF5. How old is he? If he is under 12 then the DT will be best as he may do a lot of roll casting as he learns by playing.

Either a 4wt DT or WF line would be fine. They are typically identical out to 35-40 feet ( see [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/begin/101/dtvswf.html:ca151]http://www.flyanglersonline.com/begin/101/dtvswf.html[/url:ca151] )

He's 21. We typically fish a lot of creeks in NE PA. These streams tend to be on the small side w/overhanging trees and brush, hence the7'6''.

I have an Imperial 5wt with a Royal Wulff Triangle Taper. It is a good weight forward floating line designed to be equally good with roll casts.
Worth a look.
