We had another gully washer with way too much water in way to short of a time. Water ran over roads and a lot of basements were flooded. Not good conditions to try to drive into a pond.

I read your latest "Panfish" article "Shore Again", and is a excellent story!
I learned early on that fishing in a pond/lake was completely different from fishing in a river/stream/pool. In the first scenario the fish are always on the move, they may hang around area for a short time before moving on, but they will return to the same spot after they have finished their tour of other locations.
For the latter (river/stream/pools), the fish really do not have to move on to find food, they wait for the food to come down stream to them. So the better practice is to first observe for any surface action, then to start casting to subsurface structures the fish use to conserve their energy from the current.
