Ding patch
I spotted a Ding from a stray tungsten bead near a guide in the 2nd section of my flyrod. Actually right on front of one of the single foot guides. It was unnoticeable unless you looked closely as this is a pre-IPC Avid. Since it was done by myself I counldn't send it in for the warranty. Also St. Croix wanted $50 for a replacement section if they could replace it at all(wouldn't know until I spent for shipping and insurance.). Anyway, I took some 6/0 blk tying thread and wrapped over that section about .5 inch and epoxied it. Fished it and the action is not any different. My question is does anybody out there have a better idea. I'm not a rod builder and used this sight to figure out the wrap and epoxy thing.I'm open to suggestions.

unconditional lifetime warranty means it shouldn't matter how the defect occured. at least in my understanding of it.

Well, that's what I thought when I bought it. In their warranty it does state that it does not cover any damage resulting from the use of the product.Doesn't cover normal wear, accident, misuse,..etc. Figured my misdirected fly fell under accident damage.

The St Croix warranty covers DEFECTS not BOO-BOOS, you were correct in not sending it in for replacement/repair.
If your repair attempt doesn't hold, send me a PM and I can give you repair information - it isn't difficult to repair any rod. Dings, clean breaks, smashed sections, etc. can all be made to fish again.

Thanks TJ. I might take you up on the repair info. My wraps were good but my epoxy job left a little to be desired. It took me a while to save up for this rod and there probably won't be money for another for a while so I gotta keep her fishin.
