Patting myself on the back!!
Yesterday was fun day! Fourth annual flytying contest at Cabelas!
My second year in and I placed FIRST in dry fly, and Freestyle!
Attachment 12717 Holding my greatest trophy...newest granddaughter, while the judges were judging.

We are expecting great things from that young lady. She has a super teacher and is starting out young enough to have decades of experience at an age when most of us are just starting out. You can keep winning until she beats you out.

Thank you, all!! It was a fun, although frantic, day! I'm not used to people watching me tye, then add a mega-parted fly, and time limit it ... whoa! Gets the heart beating for sure! The flies were not returned to us at completion. They become part of a collection there at Cabelas. Flies were judged on proportions, cleanness (of the tye), thread control, faithfulness to pattern (compulsory events), originality (freestyle event), and overall impression.
Our baby placed high on all counts!
