What size hook and what weight jighead would you recommend for crappies and bluegills?
I should have said I fish with a fly rod, sorry.

I use the 1/120th oz size and they work great. Easy to cast even on a 3 wt and a nice slow sink rate. You can find them at a number of places online.

I use 1/80th and 1/100th oz heads for my crappie & bluegill microjigs. Don't quote me, but I think the hooks are #12 on both....or maybe #14 on the lighter jigs?
I usually fish these under an indicator to help control depth and speed of the presentation.
1/8 and 1/16 for most crappie, 1/16 and 1/32 for most bluegill..... but I throw em with a spinning rod!
1/64 and 1/80 oz are what I use for my "small stuff". I can tie beadhead flies heavier than that in the same size, so that is about as small as my jigs go!
I use 1/80th oz. on a matzu #8 hook for my gills and crappies.Attachment 11532
1/32 for crappie and 1/64 for gills (with a #6 and a #8 hook, respectively.)
Like quivira kid, though, I use a spinning rod.
The late great tyer, Michael Verduin preferred 1/120 oz. for his Cap Spiders. He started tying them in 1981...
If you've never seen his video on tying "Cap Spiders" (1/120 jig-heads), do yourself a favor and watch it...
