Striped Bass Proposed for Species at Risk Act
Striped bass in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence have been proposed for protection under the Species at Risk Act, and the period for PUBLIC COMMENT has just been announced and will continue to Feb. 2, 2015. Many in the Atlantic salmon community have been concerned about the increasing numbers of striped bass in the past few years.

ASF Research Update
An ASF Researcher presented initial information on a project tracking alewives in the international boundary river, the St. Croix. ASF personnel have also been working on Magaguadavic River restoration through a spawning project.

Sea Lice on Farmed Salmon Have Changed DNA to Increase Resistance to Pesticide
It is now documented that in only 11 years sea lice throughout the North Atlantic have modified their DNA to resist the effects of a chemical used on farmed salmon.
