Ossineke boat
Ladyfisher,
Thanks for the memories...I won't bore you with the details but I grew up in the NE Michigan area and unfortunately don't get back as often as I'd like. It's been a long time since I've heard the word Ossineke or thought about Devils Lake...gotta admit while I was reading there was a smile...thanks...

My mother's ashes were spread at the cementery at Hubbard Lake...I would very much like to get back to the area one more time. From what I saw Rogers City is now home to a very active sport fishing fleet for salmon, and my favorite 'speckle' stream is a salmon river. I know you can't go back, but I'd like to try http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/biggrin.gif just to see if I could find a few places.

...unfortunately time and distance only allow me 1 week a year during the summmer. I grew up in Alpena but when I go back we spend the time at the family cabin in Hillman...let me assure you, at least in my area, the specks are alive and well. The usual stream/rivers still get their fare share of pressure...but 30 years later my 2 secret streams are still that...little or no pressure and if you work hard enough, brookies up to 16 inches...is it April yet?
