Biot Wings?
I just tried something and kinda like it. No pictures yet, until I get to a better camera...iPad cam is terrible.
I made the standard biot body Dry mayfly, then went to tie in a wing (which I don't always do) and thought, how about a biot?
So I tied in two turkey biots, split them with thread wraps, and cut them to size and a little to shape. I kinda like the way it looks, but the wings don't exactly stand up straight. (I also didn't stop cutting the wings until too short, like evening out table legs.)
Will post a pic when I get home.
Anyone else ever tried biots for dry fly wings?

those are both pretty neat

Same fly diff angles. Tried another, but the biots split bad...so I tore them off...still a good fly

Mike,
Did you dampen them before tying? Makes them a lot easier to work with.

Nah..usually put them in my mouth as I Tie, but was in a hurry

Good looking ties, Maodiver. I might trim the wings a little bit higher though.
Question I have would be whether the fly would twist the leader. I doubt air could drive through the wings.
