Idaho Info
Got a buddy headed to Idaho in two weeks. We were visting about the trip and the subject of wading boots came up. Is there an ID restriction against felt bottoms? Are there any special items of gear including clothing that are best to take this time of year. We are from very hot, very dry West Texas and have no clue, we fish in flip flops and tee shirts. Any help is appreciated!

Mark,
Here is a link showing some of the states that have or are considering some form of ban on felt:

If your friend plans on fishing a river or stream it had better be a tail water and he had better hope they haven't opened the dam to max outflow. The big spring melt is trying to start but is still not yet in full swing. Most rivers right now are either totally blown out or near it and within a few weeks almost all of them should be that way. There are some good lakes in Idaho, he may want to consider doing some of that type of fishing.

There is no ban on felt soles. Depending on what part of Idaho you are in will depend on the fishing and where you will be fishing at. As far as clothing dress warm and plan for hot weather. Here is a clasic example. Went fishing a few days ago. started the day with shorts and t's. About noon put on long pants. by 2 pm was in my carhearts (spelling is not right). We have spring summer fall and winter all in one day. The rivers are all blown out bad this year. Let me know where you are going and I will try to find a few fishing spots.
