A Moment to Remember
Just got word that Dave Dapprich, as fine a gentleman as I've met in the fly-fishing world, succumbed to pancreatic cancer about midday today. Dave was the President of the Lee Wulff Chapter of Trout Unlimited in suburban Chicago and welcomed me there with such warmth and hospitality that I stuck around, joined the chapter, worked, tied, and fished with its members, and eventually became its president. A civil engineer by profession, Dave was a dedicated fly fisher, bamboo rod builder, and traveler. Though he disliked public speaking, he loved demonstrating rod building or showing his pictures of his trips to Chile and elsewhere, but was most at home on the rivers and streams of the Driftless Area of southwest Wisconsin. Dave will be missed at LWTU and in all places where gentlemen are in short supply.

I am a member of the Lee Wulff Chapter here in Suburban Chicago. Indeed a fine gentlemen was Dave. Always giving of his time an experience. He will be missed by us all.

A time that causes deep thought, reflections and sadness, from a man that inspired many to pick up a rod, a whip finisher or a commitment to just make the places we fish better.
Sadly, he will be missed.
