Hi, folks. I've got a Fishpond Blue River Lumbar Pack. Can anyone who has seen/used both, compare the size of that pack to the William Joseph Satchel and the William Joseph creel? I like the satchel/creel idea but don't want anything smaller than the Blue River.

I'm assuming that you mean "William Joseph", and I'm also not sure about the "Creel" pack, but I have the "Gear Bag" chest pack and I love it. The tippet dispensing system is great as is the overall quality of my bag. I think most things they put thier name on are going to be of decent quality, with the exception of that little camera. My fiancee picked me up one this past winter, and the photo's are pretty much worthless, hard to even tell which kind of fish are in the pictures!!

Well, let me see if I can be delicate with this topic....
Some of us, mostly some of the women among us, aren't as comfortable using chest packs due to some of our endowments. And I'm not talking finances here. So it's either a lumbar pack, something like that satchel, or a vest.
I'll chime in on this one - chest packs for most women make it impossible to see your feet. Which is important if you are wading.

I bought the Fishpond pack last year to use for warmwater FF. It is very well made and has tons of storage potential. The problem was that as soon as I started filling it with fly boxes and stuff, it expanded to a size that made it impossible to see my feet and was even difficult to hold the rod in front of me. I'd imagine for a woman the situation would be even worse.
I turned around and sold it on ebay. Somebody got a really good deal.
I decided to get a small Cabela's chest pack for warmwater and keep the number of fly boxes down to a reasonable limit. This has worked well for me. I still prefer a regular vest for trout fishing.

I wear my Fishpond and a lanyard. When I wade and fish I turn it around to the back. When I change flies, tippet, etc. I turn it around to the front. So it doesn't get in between me and my feet when I don't want it to.
