A Pleasant Surprise
Today I decided to fish some small streams in the Fremont National Forest. Oregon's deer season ended last Wednesday and I figured to find messy camp sites with beer cans and trash laying around.
I fished 3 different creeks and stopped at four camp sites. To my total amazement all of these sites were really really clean. All I found was one candy wrapper, no cans, bottles, etc. It looked like a platoon of Army recruits had went through the camp sites with a drill sergeant helping them along. Hopefully this trend will continue.
Also the fishing was good. Lots of small rainbows and brooks. Never saw another angler.

We can only hope that outdoorsmen & women are the leading edge of taking care of the environment, starting with not leaving trash behind. My pet peeve everywhere and especially in wilder areas are cigarette butts. They are messy and they are dangerous. I would like to require smokers return 20 butt and the pack to purchase another pack of cigarettes.
