Last winter my neighbors across the road logged some 300+ acres and now we have a bear getting into the trash and bird feeders!
We've also lost a pair of Eagles that must have been nesting there. From my front yard you cannot tell that they cut a tree!! I like that but, what about the Eagles? And, the bear worries me a bit!

As you can see in the photo, ... cubs can get into ANYTHING! They can squeeze in through the smallest holes too.
Adults get dicey when they get too "friendly".
Keep the yard clean, you can make a cage/enclosure (or a thingamagig http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif)for the garbage cans. Once they find there are no free snack,... maybe they'll go foraging elsewhere.
If not, ... you'll have to call animal control or the wildlife service so they can trap it and (hopefully) relocate it.
