Wooden Fly Boxes
It has been a while since I posted anything so I thought I would share my latest project. Since retiring in June, I just do not have time to do everything on my list. During the winter, I was making European mounting plaques for a taxidermist and was saving all the scrap knots from the walnut boards ? I hate to waste anything. Here are a few of the fly boxes that I have made from the burls and some curly cherry.
Here is one of my thread carousel that I just finished for coustmer made from purple heart wood.

very nice craftsmanship, what, (if anything) do you use to hold them closed? if you dont mind me asking

On my prototype I used a 3/8 very high grade rare earth magnet, but you had to be the hulk to open the box. Now I am using a lower grade 1/4 diameter magnet, and they have a very nice pull to them.
