Hello, Anyone know of a round bend, standard length shank, heavy wire wet fly hook? I'm aware of the TMC 9300 but would prefer something less pricey.
Thanks in advance, Jimmy

I'm real happy with the Mustad 3906; it is a sproat bend, but the fish don't seem to mind.

Mustad R70.
Hi Bob, Unfortunately the R70 was discontinued long ago. Mustad did not keep that model around for long. I still have a few of these in different sizes but they are running low.
Bob, Yes the R70 is long gone. But that's pretty much what I am looking for. There is the TMC 9300 but they are pricey. Guess I'll just have to keep on the lookout for some older vintage hooks!
Try the Competitive Angler web site and see if you find something to your liking. There are several brands of round bend wet fly hooks there.
Take a look at Firehole Sticks. I tried a couple of their styles and like them a lot. I really liked some round bend nymph hooks that were 1x short. Left a nice generous hook gap on small nymphs. A good bit cheaper than Tiemco. Lower price per pack, and it's 36 or more to a pack.
Thanks jcampbell. I just ordered some of the Wizard and Hends wet fly hooks to try out. I'll let you know what I think when I receive them.
jay92, I'll look into the Firehole Sticks hooks. Thanks for the info.
Glad to be helpful. Yes, please let me know the results.
