The multi hi-tie Hedgehog wing conveniently fit within the segmented Rogue chassis. 1mm foam might be a bit thin for this application; may try it with standard 2mm.

fold foam strip (not quite gap width), trim rear at an angle to create tapered rear of body

fold, insert needle; mount needle in vise, start thread

pull foam forward, take a couple wraps of thread to create 1st segment

Good looking pattern, I would do it in yellow and some shade of green also and mark up the segmentations with a permanent marker.
