Petitjean Magic Tool
Just watched his DVD on the Magic Tool...this was a hotter topic some time ago....since then have any of you used it and what do you think?....really looked good on the DVD....I know Al Campbell was starting a series on it and I look forward to him coming back and adding to it...we're routing for you Al.
Petitjeans ties I thought were fascinating.

I have the tool and like it. It takes some experience to use with out problems since Marc does not tell you in his video what you are seeing. For example; when using the table, only handle it by one leg. It is very sensitive to opening and having the material come out if you touch both table legs. There's a few other techniques to learn. If you get a chance and Kim Boal is at a local show demonstrating the tool, she's worth seeing.

I got one for Christmas but i havent ahd a chance to try it out yet. I played around with it when i first got it but i think i am going to need some additional instruction before i use it for tying.

There's definitely a learning curve, but the video really helps. Trst me- it's worth the effort.

Just a simpleton's opinion: This tool is a gimmick and, after a short period of time, will be about as useful to the tyer as a rotary telephone is to a telephone marketing operator. A 'bull-dog' clamp will do just about the same thing as will a thick piece of foam with a razor slit down the middle. I'd be surprised if the majority of tyers who bought or buy the PMT continue to use it after an initial honeymoon stage.
However, I could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.
Again, just my opinion..

I agree with tyeflies. I purchased one when they first came out. But it now sits on the back of the bench.
