Spuddler Minnow (VIDEO)
Steve Pflugradt (steveP) has done a great job doing a video fly of the week for us this time around.
I am still playing with video encoding parameters to find the right quality and minimize the file size, but the material is fantastic, even if the delivery could use a few tweeks.
I'm excited about this one, and hope to see more videos in the future.

I do believe the Spuddler minnow will going into my fly box. The video was user friendly. I like it.

i like the fact that you are wearing a color that makes it easy on the eyes and easy to see what you are doing and you also used good lighting.

Wow guys you're making me blush... really. Normand, actually I wasn't wearing a shirt at all when I made that video. I have a back drop that I set between myself and the fly and tie over the top of it, it works really well. Again thanks to all for the kind words and thanks to Ron for his hard work since I had more computer problems than a guy can shake a stick at He's the one who pulled this out of the hat.

Outstanding video and great fly. Well done. But the name may be confusing. There is an old and well known fly called the Spuddler. It shares the deer hair head but otherwise quite different.

Not nude I was wearing boxers... Just kidding it was hot in the house and was also about 2.00am (only time that it is quiet in the house).
As for the name I gave it that name because it is a hybrid between a spider grub and a muddler minnow, both that I use quite often. You have peaked my interest though, would you happen to have a link to that fly anywhere?

Great job! One question. Do you ever tie in a loop of mono or wire at the bend to keep the rabbit from wrapping around? Or is this not a problem?

I liked this video. Thanks to SteveP for putting it up on post and sharing his techniques. The video had some techniques in it i think will greatly help me as a tyer to improve my skills.
Anglerdave, I've never really had that problem, but you sure could if you feek the need.

The other Spuddler may not be as popular anymore with the all the other Muddler variations out there. Developed ion the '60s It's supposed to be a combination of the Spruce Fly and the Muddler. I don't think much of the Spruce Fly made it into the final version.Quote:

That would make it two FAOL firsts for this video-first tying video and first topless video. I like the videos. Having started out with books like Herter's-mostly text with a few line drawings, videos almost make it too easy. But that is progress.Quote:

I love a good warmwater streamer and this guy looks like it will work well for the weedlines and drops I find myself fishing!
