spinner1,
I hope the time passing quickly for you! Better days are ahead!
Doug
Good time to tie some flies, clean your lines/rods, organize your boxes and practice your casts. Winter is as serious as it gets out there. I'm not sure I'd be fishing in that weather even if when I lived in Colorado. I'm in the south now so the last 2 days the Bass and Panfish have been biting on nymphs so I had a good chance to pop the cherry on my 7' 6" Sage 3 wt. It still been getting down to the 40's at night but gets up to 74 during the day. Be patient and look forward to spring!
The woods look lovely, dark and deep but
I have miles to go before I sleep...
(many) miles to go before I sleep...
The Caney Fork, the Elk River, and the Duck River are 3 good reasons to consider a trip to Tennessee in the winter... Bring BWO's of all sorts, black midges, cream midges, and nymphs from size 12 or 14 down to as small as your can stand (zebra, prince, copper Johns of various colors, PTNs, HENs - all with and without bead heads.) Woolly bugger, muddlers, and a few things and you should be set.

Just curios Len, although you can't fish during the winter months there in WI, can you still access these streams for scouting purposes or do they close the access points as well?
Is on private water.
I stopped and let the land owners know I am there first.
Also public land is open for recreation also (photos)..
And yes if I was crazy enough to wade in the stream to gain photos in 5 degree weather...the Wader Laws cover that too.
It may be boring but that sure is a pretty winter scene. That's the type of weather that requires a brief hike outside followed by a warm cup of coffee and an hour or two of earnest fly tying. I do some of my best fly fishing at my bench. I never drop a backcast or miss a strike. Take care! 8T :)
It feels good to just be stream side.
Gonna go take a winter shot of this one.
