Henshall's Favorites
I was intrigued by the article, Tying and Fishing Dr. Henshall?s Favorite Flies by Terry and Roxanne Wilson in Flyfisher Autumn 2012. These are first one of each pattern in the article. They were getting better by the fifth or sixth of each. Tied on Mustad 3366 #4 with some liberties with materials. These flies were popular 1880-1920. Left to right; Oriole, Polka, Oconomowoc, and Henshall.

Nice flies, but Oh, how times have changed.
Someone now asks "what are you fishing?", and I answer "Parachute Adams".
Imaging how the conversation must have gone when the answer was "An Ocononowoc".
