Interesting Site
While fishing today my partner and I discussed the elevation of various lakes we planned to ice fish. When I got home I played on the computer and found a site that gives such info and more on most still water places in the US. You might find it helpful:

Panman,
Just for fun, I checked the listing for Vallecito Lake in Colorado where I spend the summer...
They list the elevation at over 12,000 feet. The lake is at right around 7,700-7,800 feet....a bit off.
While this is only one instance, I'd still double check before I made any decisions based on their data.

Interesting, Google Earth show Vallecito lake San Juan NF as 12,030', must be more than one lake in question here.

Try Vallecito Reservoir at 7,678

What I found to be of the most interest to me was it gave the location of the water. Imagine you are BS'ing with a fellow and he tells me he caught some fish at Mud Lake over by Lakeview. I can get the coordinates and a map from this site.
