Beautiful picture for sure.
You'll have to get a winter-time fix by heading down this way. Year round fishing here.
I agree with JohnR. I was up on the South Holston yesterday and It was great, caught a few medium size Bows and Browns. But I did see a few that would go over 20". There were about 8 other fly flishers up there also and everyone seemed to be doing pretty good. John
an excellent place to fish in .
good Luke
John next time I get to go up there I will let you know ahead of time. You would be very welcome to go along. John
Hi Spinner,
Does that closing season include LMB and brim? If so, you are living in the wrong state. The lake fishing is just starting to get good again in SC around October. Even the trout streams are pretty much deserted as people go to football games and do other Fall activities. I've had major chunks of the Chattooga River, a premier trout stream, all to myself in October, November and December. Closing down the season now seems highly unfair. 8T :)
Lakes & major rivers are open for warm water.
I might drive up north to a trib of Lake Michigan
and fish for steel and lake run brown in novermber.
I usually chase northerns until January and then
travel to Iowa to trout fish again.
Spinner,
That's not as bad as it initially sounded. I was afraid that you were going to be experiencing a horrible period of total fly fishing deprivation. That's the kind of situation that turns people into mass murders and worse! If you saw the movie, The Shinning with Jack Nicholson, it wasn't the old hotel that made him crazy, it was the lack of fly fishing in all that snow and ice ;) Good luck with the lake fishing! 8T :)
