I'm sure that will create some new, unknown knots for the line & leader ...!
I liked the River Runs Through It version better. Actually, I think this is a satirical video, ment to be humorous.
Laughed my butt off at that one. Looks like some of my first "casting". I used the same method when I became disgusted with the amount of sticks leaves and rocks I was catching and it nearly doubled my catch ;). Luke
If I had to put that much effort into a cast I give up fly fishing.
That is a legit way of loading your rod when you have too much line out so you can make a quick cast. I have done variations of that cast many times but it is not my favorite way to pick up a line off the water and load the rod. Spey casters do something like that almost all the time.
Try it, you will like it, or not. :)

Ever meet someone and have them tell you they shadow cast when they fish? Just like in the movie? I have.
If you live in Livingston, MT they actually may have been in the movie. *S* And some there will still say they were....
I don't know about this...I kind of feel like the only thing in fly fishing that should ever look that frenzied is the fish on the end of the line. Or me trying desperately to tie on one more fly before the light is all gone.
I have a feeling that was supposed to be a spoof. I liked the guy at the beginning who as actually shadowing the guy casing.. A true shadow cast. Now this video has a very useful trick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kIMV...eature=related
