Attachment 10365
hook: 10 salmon egg
body: UTC 210 ultra thread FL FIRE ORANGE
abdomen: peacock hearl
head: 1/8" Cyclops Bead
I tried to fish it right after a pretty good storm, water was murky as can be... didn't get any hits, but i think it has potential...
anyway...
does anyone have any patterns for salmon egg hooks?
thanks,
spoof

Nice pattern.
I have used those small black octopus hooks for similar twisty results (they were on sale)

I like the curved body look and think the fish will find that looking like a swimming nymph. The downturned eye seems to be counter to the bead and change the pivot point of the fly slightly, probably doesn't make a difference but I think a better choice would be a scud hook with the bead and use the eye hook for a emerger pattern. That said I don't know what I'm doing most of the time when I'm tying anyway. Put it in the water and leave it there long enough, it will probably catch fish.

Sure, especially the red ones for midge patterns. Barbs tend to be a bit too large for my liking and the size is limited, but otherwise they work fine.
