Lance
I for one would like to extend my thanks and congratulations to Lance Armstrong for demonstrating to all the world the spirit of the American people. From a 50/50 chance for survival from cancer he has just won his SEVENTH Tour de france.
AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENT. THANK YOU LANCE!!!

I'm a huge Michael Jordan fan (being from Chicago and all) but i think Lance just convinced everyone he is the greatest american athlete of all time (well, next to Lefty Kreh...)

Kewl to hear,Notmuch of one for the news...lol...He's gone through alot and deserves this very much!!!...Also glad to see the lock off this...would be a shame if we could not have a say in apprecation....

Did it without much help from the team this year too. 'Atta boy, Lance.

In this day of primadonna athletes, one like Lance is indeed refreshing!
Seven in a row is unbelievable!!...ESPECIALLY with all he's been through. After the cancer, it would have been newsworthy had he simply completed the race. WHAT AN INSPIRATION for ALL of us.

Okay, I'm confused.
When I first read this thread there were 3 posts. The last one from JC stating he had locked it down for some reason. Since that specific post is no longer here I won't try and quote him. Now, the thread is re-opened.
Anyway, I just want to post a congratulations to Lance Armstrong. His cycling accomplishment of 7 consecutive Tour de France championships ranks among the greatest sports streaks. I don't think it will ever be broken unless he himself decides to try again in 2006.

Hey Tyeflies:
The phenomenon you experienced is referred to as "editorial license" sometimes brought on by an editor forgetting to take his or her medication. And the good news is that it is entirely reversible , to wit: the reappearance of the thread. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif, http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif

Flyfisherman or not, he does appear to be quite a sportsman, and that could be a common ground. I am awed by the stamina involved in that kind of effort, and wish I could fish that hard... I hope that the celeb girlfriend isn't an indication of him "going hollywood".(Not that it's any of my business; and I like her music too!) Anyway, an absolutely amazing athletic event, and the past illness makes it really a storybook ending. Look for the movie...:-)

Yes, Lance also fly fishes!
If ever an athlete can be called a true hero, Lance is it!
