The anti-static dryer sheets such as Bounce look to me to be light and nicely veined like an insect wing.
Anyone use them?
Pros...cons?
They probably don't add to floatability and may be too flimsy????
Your experience and thoughts please.

Ducsterman;
Just received some wing cutters from River Road Creations. In the package they included 3 samples of their wing foam. Not much thicker than a sheet of bounce with a nice texture and stiff enough to stand up.
I'm going back and order some full sheets, they've got 9 colors

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here!

Hey Duckster,
Watchit....pretty soon you'll be gathering that drier lint and dubbin' it!! *BG*
Jeremy. (who doesn't know why that wouldn't work on nymphs...*Grins*).
duckster,
As far as the dryer sheets, just make sure all the smelly stuff is out.
Recently I was in a fabric store like JoAnn Fabrics and noticed a very similar, if not the same, material as the dryer sheets. It comes on a bolt that is 48" wide and you can buy it by the foot. Seemed to be about $1.50 for a lifetime supply.

another thing you can get at a frabic store is that stuff under a chair. Organzo or something like that I think.

Hi ducksterman,
I have noticed the nice veining and wondered about using them in tying but I think the sheets would need to be sprayed with a thin coat of varnish to stiffen them and add a bit of water proofing. I have not had an opportunity to experiment with this project but would be curious as to its potential if anyone else has the time to fiddle with the process of making the sheets useable.
I use very thin strips on my cinnamon and my black ants as "indicators". The brown and black are very hard to see in the water (especially when they're tied so small), so I use a "wing" made of the Bounce sheet to make it more visible. Works like a champ and holds up very well.

Chris,
I think using USED sheets takes care of that.
What started me thinking about bounce[once again] was the other day a used sheet fell out of my sweatpants leg....it was clean ,not oily or smelly but was wrinkled so I asked the better half to iron it the next time she was ironing [she still does that] and now it is a very nice flat piece.....
I'm thinking that it can be colored with a marking pen then coated with some Dave's fleximent..[I use thinned goop]....and it might end up being good stuff....and almost free.
Correct. . . I use the sheets after they've been run through the drier. They still work fine and don't have the oily/chemical feel to them.
Joe
Joe, do you treat them at all?
