I have one I use for certain threads. Pros: adjustable tension, smooth operation. Cons: much slower to change spools, one sided frame takes some getting used to.
This bobbin is smooth. I have one and I agree with Jay on the one-sided frame issue. I have to hold the bobbin with the frame against my ring and pinky fingers instead of against the base of my thumb or else my middle finger whacks the thread as I turn it. Tension is excellent.
They are absolutely wonderful! I acquired one here a couple months ago and will never use a "normal" bobbin as my "go to" again. Smooth like butter.
they are good to go, i use them on the thin wispy stuff
Mine adjusts so precisely, it was responsible for getting me to give up the cup and book for rod-wrapping after "several" decades. Terrific with fine silk. Tension can be cranked down for tying big bugs with heavy thread, too.

At first I liked this bobbin so much that I bought two more. After a month of my second purchase, I started having problems with 2 of the three. On one the ceramic tube began to slide in its guide, so I had to use head cement to hold it and it has been fine for over a year now. On the other one the arm is free from the spool and rotates constantly, try gluing it and it broke again. Should of returned them, but since they were mail order I didn't bother.
I really like the feel of these bobbins, just didn't get the use durability of them.
Easy repair. Use epoxy.
Great bobbins. Read the 3 pages concerning Rite bobbins.
