the best you know of...
I've participated in and hosted tons of swaps here at faol and elsewhere. I treasure all the collections of flies I have archived. as a result of this I've come to the conclusion that there are hundreds if not thousands of guys out there tying phenomenal flies. what I'm wondering is who do you think ties the finest flies you've received?
I'll start by naming a couple of mine...
the guy whose flies never cease to impress me is dennis doremus, also known as badbug. flawless execution every time.
another whose work always impresses me is jason schnuur aka feenom. same deal as above.
there are a couple handfuls of other guys whose names'll pop up here I'm sure. but those two guys bring it every time, be it nymphs, dries, streamers or steelhead flies, they are masters of the craft.
so who makes your list?

Wow, good question.
Well, Ronn Lucas and Al and Gretchen
sure tie some beautiful flies and they can
do cookie cutter copies all day long. Denny
Conrad too. Then there is Allan of Catskills fame. RW ties probably the nicest
Royal Wulff I've ever seen. Dave (Black
Gnat) is a great tier if you like blue and
orange.*G* I have examples of
RK's and Al's flies that are just too darn
nice to fish. 2 weight (Buddy Davis) ties
a fly thats too pretty to fish, but too
productive not too. It's hard to narrow it
down too far because there is just so darn
much talent out there. Heck Mikey, your
flies are pretty darned spiffy too.*G*
Warm regards, Jim
