Bamboo with split tip
I have a bamboo rod where the bamboo has separated (split) about six inches down from the tip. The only way you can tell it is split is by flexing the rod tip. The split is about 4 inches long. Can I repair this by wrapping it with white silk line and coating it with rod coating to make it disappear?

You will need to open the split and soak with glue, bind with thread untill the glue sets, clean the excess glue then bind with white silk and varnish. You can use Titebiond II or III. Use straight pins to hold the split open until you get the glue worked into the split.
Good luck with your project.

I would place a temporary wrap of thread or masking tape each side of the split before attempting the repair. Sometimes a split will run when you open it up with for glueing.
You can use a small coffee stirrer type straw to blow the glue into the seam, just run a small bead over the split blow through the straw to force into the crack.
A few drops of vinegar will thin yellow glues like TiteBond. Use very small drops, it's some kind of chemical reaction, not like adding water to thin, you just need a little.
