The Duck River Today
Liljoe and I hooked up around 11:30 at the first bridge below Normandy Dam. We worked our way down stream picking up a fish now and then, nothing to write home about! The Caddis where hatching "Again" and there was a lot of surface activity but not much luck with wet fly's. Warren joined us around 2:30 and began working his way down stream to catch up with Liljoe. I'm getting stubborn in my old age and stuck it out throwing wet fly's at lots of rising fish with very little luck!! I found a soft spot to set down in the shade and try to figure out what to do!!
Low and behold I had some dry fly's in my pack. I changed over to a dry fly leader, 7X tippet and tied on a size 18 Adams! Hoo Haa!! I was Dry Fly fishing on the Duck River!! 5 Rainbow's and a bunch of Blue Gills latter I was very happy to call it a day, Warren and liljoe were well out of sight downstream by this time and I hope they had as good a time ad I did!

Jack,
Great fishing report. When you were fishing wet flies were you using soft hackles?
7X tippet, now that is getting small.

Shows like a lot of fun Jack. I hope to heck I an make a trip back up there later this year. I mean there's the trout and the smallmouth and the BBQ at the River Caf?.

Jack, we've got o go out again. I've fished the Duck off and on for over 40 years and I've never seen a caddis emergence. I admit that most of that time I fished downstream of the trout water.
Regards,
Ed

Jack, I'm glad you figured out what they were hitting on the top! That was so dang aggravating to see a trout rise right in front of me and then never even look at my fly. Lol
When I finally got out of the water yesterday I ended up with 19 rainbows, and a bunch of bluegill. It was a very good day. Can't wait to go again!

Great report Jack! Wish I was there instead of at work. If only I could figure out how to pay the bls by fishing for a living!
