Not much to go on deadrift,
I would guess that it was a creek chub of some sort. Did it have any barbs on it's head? Some times male chubs get small barbs on top of their heads. Sort of have stripes on the side also. They only get to around 7 or 8 inches max. They like to school a lot also, we have a lot of them around here in PA. If not a chub, maybe a fallfish? Check out your local fisheries on line if you can, I'm sure you can find it some where. Hope this helps a little.Later, Dave

DeaDrift,
Did it have large scales?
It sounds like a fallfish but they aren't supposed to be west of the Genessee River.

Avalon :D

It looked like a fathead but was too big to be one..about 8 inches long..

was the belly all silver, or kind of a silver whiteish, if so its a white fish. where i live some creeks have the white fish in them, they have a dark back, silver whiteish belly almost a dull silver, and large mouths.

not a whitefish..im going to draw it..

Ok why am, i coming to the thought that when i say minnow i think of a lil fish about the size of a penny..but in all actuallity they can be like a foot long? im assuming this thing is a bigmouth shiner
