PayPal get verified
It appears that over the years, we've spent enough money with paypal that they no longer trust us, they want us to link our account to a bank account to make us more fraud proof. For those of you who believe in paypal, are you "verified"? Any negatives to it?

I've used PayPal for years. I think they linked to my bank account from the beginning. I just punch "pay now" and verify the bank account number and I'm done.

Hello Herefishy,
Getting verified is an easy process. Linking to a bank account is actually very helpful for me. I can transfer paypal funds to my bank account, or if there is something I wish to buy and need a few more bucks....I can transfer from my bank account. I have used paypal since its first days and have never had any problem. I use their shopping cart on 4 websites. It is a very safe, secure way to deal with money.
The only negative...isn't paypals fault, it lies with the IRS. This year they require that paypal report income for its members to them. I think at the $2,000 level?

I use PP and am verified but I always use the CC

I set up a separate bank account just for PayPal so I don't have to give them access to my main accounts. When I buy stuff I just use the credit card option so the bank account is never accessed.
It works out well for me.

I also have been "verified" with PayPal for a long time. Never had any problems. It's my preferred way to pay & be paid.

I've been using eBay since 1998. I started using PayPal as soon as it was available to me.
Linking to the bank account is easy and safe. If you feel uncomfortable, us a credit card or make a separate bank account.
Becoming verified is good. Having a verified address really helps. A lot of sellers wont ship to an address that is not verified.
I have stuff shipped to work. I have a company credit card and associated it with PayPal. I don't have to use the company CC to pay for things, but that associates the work address with me and makes the work address a verified address.
This really works well for me. That way I know that an expensive fly rod isn't sitting on my front porch......rather, it's delivered to work, where there is always someone to receive it.

Thanks for all the insight, I will probably set up a different account. Are there different charges if they take the money from your bank account instead of your credit card? Would think they would have to pay a merchant charge for taking money from your credit card?

Just remember....Paypal will not take money from your bank account or your credit card...unless you are overdrawn....and even then, it will not be taken until you tell them which account to take from. Your bank will charge you about $35 for overdraft fees...paypal will not. As for worrying about credit card fees? Swap out your credit card with a debit card and those fees will go away.

I look to see if folks are verified with PayPal and will often ship only to a verified address. An added perk to this is that since Pay Pal is international, I can be assured that someone in Canada or Europe that is paying with PayPal is indeed who they say they are and the rod is going where I think it is. It also allows me to take credit cards at a reasonable rate since my volume is not high enough to justify regular gateways as yet. It's a simple matter to transfer money to my bank account or I can use my PayPal Debit card.
When I buy something via Pay Pal, the seller knows I live at the address I tell them to ship to and as others have said, I have more flexibility in where the money comes from.
