I bought a Scott S3S 6wt over the winter, and used it frequently this spring in freshwater. It throws a 6wt GPX line nicely, which I understand to be a half-wt heavier than the rating. I put an Orvis 6wt bonefish line on it this summer and have had miserable results. It takes almost the entire head to load the rod. Other than going to a 7wt, can anyone suggest a 6wt bonefish line that's comparable to the GPX, or heavier than rated?
Why are you trying to use a 6wt. on bonz?
Try an intermediate flyline. I frequently use a #7 WF-I on an Orvis Trident #6 weight fly rod for walking the beaches. It'll throw a #6 WF-F 60 feet with a single haul & the #7 intermediate with a double haul gets 85 feet with about the same effort !

That is the exact setup that I was using for beach snook in sanibel as well as an 8wt.

On why a 6wt, the bonefish I fished in Belize this summer just aren't that big. Unless the wind is blowing a 6wt is plenty, and plenty fun. I do have a 7wt intermediate on one spool. I'm looking for a floater.
Any of the foating salmon/steelhead lines such as the SA Steelhead Taper, Rio Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead, or Orvis Salmon/Steelhead will work very well for saltwater use. These are the go-to floating lines for fishing salmon and searun cutthroat from the beaches of Washington and British Columbia. We do also use intermediate sinking lines and super-fast sinking integrated heads such as the Teeny, Rio Striper, SA Streamer Express, Cortland QD or Orvis Depth Charge. This three-line system will cover you from the beach to offshore waters and most water condtions.

I use a SA Mastry Bonefish line on my 6wt bonefish rod. And yes, bonefish are a blast on a 6wt, just make sure you have a good reel.
I'll second the Rio line. Good stuff in the salt.
I've had great luck with Cortland Redfish line. It'll turn a large fly in a good wind.
