2 More reels to go and with lowered prices

I have 2 reels I would like to get rid of. I will accept Pay-pal, USPS Money order and personal check. Personal checks will have to clear first unless I have dealt with you in the past. All prices include shipping to lower 48 and some will include backing.

I am building 8.5 St.Croix graphite and will use a 5 wt. line. Flyfished many years ago and now back in. Realize this may seem like a dumb question but would the Lamson be great choice for the rod. Any positive suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks kindly.

As far as line and backing go the reel is better suited for a 3 or 4wt line. You can put less backing on the reel which is not really needed for most trout fishing anyhow but then you start to loose the benefits of a large arbor (line coil especially with cheaper lines or warmer water lines used in real cold weather). As for balance it would probably be just fine on the 8.5 foot rod. I personaly have used the reel to the rod and line recommendations from the manufacturer but I know others would put a 5wt line on a reel better matched to a 4 wt line its just not what I've done. I think the Orvis reel I have for sale would be a great reel for your set up also, the reel is a little heavier but rugged and for nearly 100% of trout fishing this reel would be a tank

Thank you for honest insight. Looking for a super sweet light reel as with my tender age some arthritis is setting in. Also quit drinking and didnt know I had so many aches and pains. Kind of like a great antique with patina(corrosion). New again to flyfishing and very excited but somewhat overwhelmed by the complexity and cost of reels. Goal is is too keep it simple. A nice rod and reel in your hand all day is special and would like to do this properly again. Have just joined the our local Trout Unlimited chapter here in Madison,Wi. and look forward to picking their heads for good info. Only went to one meeting but they seem like a special group of people. Next week they have their annual fundraiser and maybe I might be fortunate to win a nice reel and solve my thought process.
