will this work?
I agreed to tie some big saltwater size streamers for a co-worker if he came up with the hooks which are not readily available around here. What he brought in is an up eye straight shank hook with the hook bend at about a 20 degree angle to the shank intended to replace the treble hooks on plastic baits. My first thought is that a streamer tied on this hook will very likely spin or ride on it's side. Have any of you tried to use a hook like this for flies? Is it worth the time and materials involved to tie on them or should I tell him to wait until I have a chance to order some other hooks?

I wouldn't invest a lot of time, effort and materials on that hook. There are so many great specialty SW hooks by Owner, Gama, Diachi and Mustad that are the key to sucess.
Why not look-over the Mustad SW signature hooks on-line(a FAOL sponsor) and then recommend a hook to your friend. They have awsome streamer hooks for salt water flies...
Wrong hook inside a great tie and guess who gets blamed for the failure to connect? You do...
