From awaiting the judges rule, to ICU...

The beautiful little grand daughter who awaited with me the judges ruling in the fly tying contest last week, was taken by ambulance to Children's Memorial hospital last Saturday after stopping breathing. She tested positive for RSV. She's been on a ventilator since Saturday, heavily sedated, fighting for her life. It took over three hours for them to get her stabilized to the point that her parents (my son and daughter-in-law) could be allowed into the ICU with her. I have never been so scared in my life. I'm so thankful that we have one of the Nations leading childrens' hospitals in KC! If there was anything I would ask, is that you all pray for her, and her family. Little Tristyn is just 3 months old and weighs 11 1/2 pounds. She's so very, very sick. Thank you.

My grandson spent a lot of time there with that same nasty disease several years ago. He was just a month old and he came through allright. He loves to go fishing with papa, but does not have to much patience yet he just turned five in January. I will be praying and the staff there is the best there is.

Haven't gotten to know you like many on the board, and am not much of a prayer guy, but my thoughts and hopes are with you and the little one. Having known the loss I understand your fears and concerns and only hope the recovery is all we are hoping for for you.

About 35 min ago she opened her eyes! First time since Saturday! Still on the ventilator, but she may have reaced that "magical" plateau!

Good news! Thanks Betty for keeping us posted. Prayers continue for your little angel recovery.

Had hoped to post some good news after she opened her eyes. Not happened yet. She closed her eyes, shortly after she opened them, and any eye opening now is just an open stare at nothing. There's no focus at all. She's still on the ventilator, still sedated, still totally unable to breathe on her own. The plateau we had hoped we'd reached is almost out of reach now. I'm (we're) trying to keep the Faith, but it's so hard. We just don't know the answers. Please keep praying. She needs it so badly.
