Rene and Bonnie Harrop
Hi,
I had the opportunity to meet Rene and Bonnie Harrop in Last Chance Idaho. I believe they (especially Rene) are perhaps the most innovative and accomplished tiers anywhere. They and their son and daughter sell their premium flies at the Trouthunter shop and some shop near Silver Creek, I believe.
Rene has a new book out called "Learning From the Water" which is wonderful and has the most beautiful photos of his flies and how he designs them. It is one of the best books I have read.

Definitely have to put that book on the wish list. We were fishing the upper Teton River a few years ago and just happened to be at their takeout (they were floating in pontoons); very nice folk, a pleasure to talk to.

Rene tied many of the flies for Tom Morgan's book ( http://www.troutrods.com/slowpoke.html ), where the flies Tom talks about come with book. I got to see those flies before they were parceled out into the boxed book sets. They were astonishing. I've seen a few other tiers who do flawless, imaculate work. But Rene's flies also a have the most graceful proportions. In Tom's book the flies that come with the boxed set are all mounted on magnetic rods so you pick each fly up and examine it in your hands. That was a brilliant design addition to an incredibly executed publication.

Wish I could meet and talk with them. All that you have said here rings true. But Byron- only Rene is smiling. You and Bonnie look, well, grumpy! Kidding, of course. Great post and pics.
