North Georgia Fishing
I'm planning on a trip to Georgia to hook up with an old High School buddy that lives in Alpheratta(?)(Atlanta) and do some flyfishing.
I'm pretty much covered for "Primitive" camping, hot water shower, small generator, propane icebox and even a color T.V.!!
Small lake where we can rent a boat like we did back in '64 here in MI. with some nice trout streams nearby. It would be nice to have a small town nearby so we can get more ice for the pop (sure!!)
Northern part or even across the border into KY or TN.
If I get it set up Ya All are invited too!!

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here!

Jack,
Here's a good book you might want to pick up before your trip:

It gives lots of info on north Georgia streams including maps and access points.
You should also consider Tennessee. The Hiwassee River is a great trout river and is only about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from Atlanta. Check this out:

And if you really want to go all out, you can head up to Kentucky's Cumberland River. A friend of mine guides there in the summer. See his links to the Cumberland here:

Jack, you'll be in my neighborhood. Helen, Georgia has a lot of what you are looking for. Check with Unicoi Outfitters for more info. Their phone number is on their website www.unicoioutfitters.com[/url:a2e47]

I'd recommend that you not drop into any stores in N. GA and tell them you need ice for your "pop." Tell them you need ice for your "co-colas." You'll get along with people here a lot better and it is less likely that they will use the "Y" word to your face.

If I may, here's a good board for that area: http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ngto/[/url:bd848]
