A sad experience
I recently tied up a few bass poppers using molded, rigid foam, bodies. As suggested, I colored them with waterproof felt markers and they looked nice. I then added some stick-on eyes and tried to finish them with a UV clear coating.
WHAT A DISASTER. When I tried spreading the thin UV coating around with a bodkin it dissolved the marker ink.
I'll stick with plastic-safe model paint from now on.

AAGGHH!!! Sorry to hear that Ray. I hate it when the last step of something ruins the project. I bet the bucketmouths won't mind though. :)

Ray,
Call it a Design Opportunity, you just came up with a new molted look, or something for Halloween? :)

Sorry to hear about that Ray. One thing I've found with UV resins and foam (with markers) is that a good coat or two of white or pearl acrylic paint on the foam body before you do anything else, will help prevent that sort of thing. Plus, I think that also results in a much sharper paint job when all's said and done.

Go ahead and fish them. Bass don't care what it looks like.
