Thread size question
Hello all, I tie salwater flies from size 10 to 3/0 and have been using Danville's 210 which I think is the same as their flat waxed nylon. Anyway, I thought I would ask and see if there might be some sugestions as what might be a better thread for my tying. Also it's always fun to pick up more stuff for the tying box. Many thanks, Jack

Jack,I dont know if theres any better thread but all different thread has its uses.I tie mostly SW flies also from 4-2/0 and I use flat nylon,3/0 monocord as well as monofilament thread. On smaller flies, monocord gives you less bulk and nicer heads.6/0 silk works well on small flies also.I like monofilament thread because its strong and if used on synthetics,it disappears under head cement or epoxy. When used with bucktail it lets the color come through at the head and gives the fly a different look. Its always good to get a variety of threads and experiment.Good luck and have fun.

Cabela's has a kevlar thread. I doubt if there's anything tougher than that for a salt-water fly.
